Think you might have a dental issue that warrants professional attention? In today’s post, we’re pointing out some early signs of dental trouble and letting you know what they could signal for your dental health.
One of the most common signals that something’s not right in your body is pain, and that goes for your mouth, too! Pain anywhere in and around your mouth, teeth, or jaw is cause for concern, especially if it lasts. Persistent pain could mean a cavity, gum disease, TMJD, or even infection.
Bleeding around the gums is another sign that you may have a dental issue that needs attention. There are a number of reasons why your gums could be bleeding including early stage gum disease (gingivitis) and improper or inconsistent at-home oral care.
Mouth sores occur from time to time, but if they are consistent or if you have one that lasts over a week, you should head to the dentist. Reasons for mouth sores vary, but include infection, virus, fungus, or irritation.
Dreaded tooth sensitivity! So many of our patients complain about it, as it can make eating and drinking a lot less fun. Sensitivity is something to pay attention to. It could be linked to tooth decay, chipped or broken tooth, worn out fillings, gum disease, gum recession, or loss of tooth enamel. So, if it’s something that’s persisting in your mouth, be sure to bring it up with your dentist.
